Instructions

  1. 01
Preheat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat until very hot.
  2. 02
Brush the cut sides of the avocado halves and all sides of the red onion wedges with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon kosher salt.
  3. 03
Grill the red onion wedges, turning occasionally, until tender and well charred on the edges, 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. 04
Grill the avocado halves cut side down until deep grill marks appear and the flesh is just warmed through, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer both avocados and onions to a serving platter.
  5. 05
In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, lime zest, lime juice, grated garlic, remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, remaining 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and warm water until smooth and pourable.
  6. 06
Spoon the lime-tahini sauce generously over the grilled avocado and onion. Sprinkle with sumac, parsley, and mint.
  7. 07
Serve immediately as a warm meze, with pita or alongside your favorite mains.
