Herb's take
Here’s a bruschetta that puts a creamy twist on the Italian classic, ripe avocado cozies up with fresh tomatoes for a topping that’s as unexpected as it is delicious. We’ll toast bread the old-fashioned way and let a pinch of salt work its magic, all in under thirty minutes.

Instructions
- 01Preheat your broiler to high.
- 02Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
- 03Broil for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crisp. Watch closely to avoid carbonized 'toast confetti.'
- 04While the bread is hot, rub one side of each slice with the garlic clove for mellow flavor.
- 05In a medium bowl, combine diced tomatoes, diced avocado, basil, black pepper, and lemon juice.
- 06Add the kosher salt and gently toss, being careful not to mash the avocado.
- 07Spoon the tomato-avocado mixture evenly onto the garlic-rubbed side of each toast.
- 08Serve immediately while the bread is still crisp.
