Channel your inner wok maestro with this Chinese-inspired broccoli stir-fry. You’ll learn how heat, timing, and a little garlic can turn humble broccoli into the star of your dinner table.

- 01In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, water, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
- 02Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat for 2 minutes until very hot. Add neutral oil and swirl to coat the pan.
- 03Add broccoli and stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and starting to brown in spots.
- 04Push broccoli to the edges and add sliced garlic to the center. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- 05Give the sauce another quick whisk, then pour it into the wok. Stir and toss constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the broccoli, about 1 minute.
- 06Remove from heat. Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed.
- 07Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds.
