Put away your passports: tonight Italy and Mexico meet somewhere between the spice rack and the stovetop. These tacos flip the script, layering classic Italian aromatics and flavors into a playful taco format.

    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up any clumps, until browned, about 5 minutes.

    Add chopped onion and cook until softened, 2 to 3 minutes.

    Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

    Add diced tomatoes, crushed red pepper flakes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Reduce heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the mixture thickens, about 8 minutes.

    Stir in balsamic vinegar and simmer for 1 minute more.

    Taste and adjust salt or pepper if needed. Remove from heat.

    Warm corn taco shells according to package instructions.
