Instructions
- 01Preheat your broiler. Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- 02Broil bread for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden and crisp. Immediately rub one side of each hot slice with 2 garlic cloves. Set aside.
- 03Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until just browned, about 4 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 04Thinly slice the remaining 4 garlic cloves and add to the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- 05Add chopped tomatoes, kosher salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Stir well, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- 06Simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes have broken down and the sauce is thickened.
- 07Stir in torn basil leaves just before serving.
- 08Spoon the beef and tomato mixture into shallow bowls. Serve with the garlic toast alongside for dipping and scooping.
