Inspired by classic American hash, this dinner transforms humble freezer fare into a crispy, savory skillet meal. You'll learn the fine art of reimagining a chicken patty and why pan-frying bread is oddly satisfying.

    Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and drizzle in 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

    Add the diced chicken patty cubes in a single layer. Cook, turning occasionally, until well browned and crispy on most sides, about 6-8 minutes.

    Sprinkle the chicken with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir to coat evenly.

    Add the diced whole wheat bread and remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Toss well and continue cooking until the bread cubes are golden and crisp, about 4 minutes.

    Taste and season the hash with salt if needed. Remove pan from heat.

    Meanwhile, toast the 4 whole slices of bread until deeply golden. Cut each slice diagonally if you want to show off your geometry skills.
